While Oracle Database generally scales well on T-series servers, the paper notes, certain single-threaded operations do not. The paper identifies those deployment scenarios that are best suited for Oracle Database deployment on T-series servers and identifies use cases for which Oracle Database deployment on T-series servers is not recommended. Oracle's Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel is a Linux kernel that is optimized for Oracle software and hardware, and is now the only Linux kernel Oracle recommends for use with its software. Announced during Oracle OpenWorld 2010, the Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel is derived from the stable 2.6.32 mainline Linux kernel, and it will continue to track mainline. Oracle and HP have settled the dispute on the former company's hiring of Mark Hurd, who headed HP as chief executive and president. A lawsuit filed by HP claimed Hurd would violate agreements to protect its trade secrets. In a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission on Sept. 20, HP modified its separation agreement with Hurd, who claimed he would protect HP's confidential information and gave up rights to 330,000 shares of restricted HP stock.

Oracle Exalogic Elastic Cloud is a complete cloud application infrastructure, combining 64-bit x86 processors, an InfiniBand-based I/O fabric, and solid-state storage with Oracle WebLogic Server, other enterprise Java Oracle middleware products, and a choice of Oracle Solaris or Oracle Linux operating system software. The system contains 30 servers, each loaded with two six-core processors for a total of 360 processor cores. They are interconnected with each other and storage via Infiniband connections.
